Since my early days in photography, I have enjoyed shooting film on my travels or for capturing street scenes in my town of residence. Having come across expired rolls of film, I decided to use them in my projects for experimental purposes – however, since they had gone past their develop-by date anywhere between 5 to 35 years before, the results were mostly unpredictable.
After processing, some film rolls exhibited a pronounced color shift, low contrast and high grain. When trying to scan these negatives, I decided to go with the “imperfect” color rendition and push the distorted color palette to its limit.
Thus appeared ghostly and psychedelic color tones that I further manipulated with digital processing, creating an amalgamation of extremely saturated and vibrant images with a certain impressionistic appeal.
